It feels good to be ethical

Globally, 128 companies were named as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies1, including five banks. And we’re one of them for the 4th year in a row!

One of the World's Most Ethical Companies

We're proud to be named as one of the world's most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute, highlighting our commitment to our members and the environment.

At UniBank, social responsibility is built into our very foundations. It drives who we are, what we do and why we do it. Operating ethically and sustainably means that we’re able to channel our profits into doing good. We call this commitment ‘Feel-Good Wealth’, and have strong governance in place to make sure our standards are upheld.

Recognised as a world leader

We’ve been named one of the World's Most Ethical (WME) Companies 2019 by the Ethisphere Institute1 for the 4th year in a row. We’re one of only five banks in the world, and the only Australian company, to be recognised.

  • We apply socially responsible strategies to all our products, with a particular focus on home loans and deposit accounts.

  • We have socially responsible exclusions for companies that deal in products and practices that are damaging to society and the environment.

  • We are the only bank in Australia to have $1 billion of Certified Ethical Investment in wholesale cash, certified by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA)2

What this means for our members

We’re committed to running the bank under ethical and socially-responsible strategies. We don’t use members’ deposits to invest in any large-scale, greenhouse polluting activities that involve fossil fuels. Our members are our shareholders, so everything we do is influenced by our members’ needs. By banking with us, you can be confident that your money is doing good every day, and that’s not going to change.

About the WME evaluation

The Ethisphere Institute is the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practice. The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient (EQ) framework and honours superior achievements in transparency, integrity, ethics and compliance. Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).
