UniBank supporting the university sector into 2020

At UniBank, the last few months have been very prolific for us, as we have continued to support sponsorships and awards within the university community.

As we enter a new decade, our engagement in the university sector stands as a testament to our commitment in improving the future of the higher education community for its staff and students.

Catalysing Gender Equity 2020

At UniBank, we are committed to supporting education and diversity, both within the workplace and the wider university sector.

Our sponsorship of the Catalysing Gender Equity 2020 conference in Adelaide demonstrated our commitment to supporting women in STEM, in addition to our support of the Universities in STEM Discipline.

This inaugural two-day outcome-driven conference was coordinated by the Australian Academy of Science in collaboration with Science in Australia Gender Equality (SAGE).

The theme of the discussion which brought together representatives from across higher education and research, industry, education and government was: “be part of the solution”. The aim of the day was to strengthen collaborations, build new networks and share evidence-based best practice to advance gender equality.

UniBank’s General Manager, Mike Lanzing, had the opportunity to speak at this major event, in which he acknowledged the ongoing industry support of the gender equality cause.

Later in the proceedings, Mike also participated in “Lightning Talks”, in which he presented UniBank’s Diversity Report, demonstrating our active support of the Australian Women in STEM Decadal Plan.

Universities Australia Higher Education Conference 2020

Our sponsorship of the Universities Australia Higher Education Conference is testament to our commitment to supporting university staff members across Australia.

The 2020 conference, themed “education changes lives,” hosted 900 delegates at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.

Among the attendees were senior university staff - such as vice-chancellors and chancellors, as well as senior government representatives, international specialists and the research community.

UniBank’s main focal point of engagement during the conference was the Australian Awards for University Teaching 2020. Our General Manager, Mike Lanzing, presented the lucky 2019 recipients with their award for Australian University Teacher of the Year – Social and Behavioural Sciences. The winners this year were Associate Professor Blake McKimmie, Professor Barbara Masser & Professor Mark Horswill from the University of Queensland.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching celebrate and reward the excellence of university educators in Australia, and a recognition of the excellence in learning and teaching experiences and outcomes of university students across our nation.

Our sponsorship of this award ceremony this year is a demonstration of our commitment to the university sector and our continued support of the transformative power of a university education.
