Only four banks in the world have been named as a 2018 World's Most Ethical Company.
And we're one of them for the 3rd year in a row!
The Bank has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2018.
In 2018, 135 honourees were recognised, spanning 23 countries and 57 industries. Measuring and improving culture, leading authentically and committing to transparency, diversity and inclusion were all priorities for honourees. The recognition honours those who operate with purpose and incorporate integrity into their ecosystems, and underscores their commitment to leading with integrity and prioritising ethical business practices.
The Bank has been recognised since 2016, and is one of only four honourees in the Banking industry category.
"Ethical banking for us is an expectation, not an aspiration."
–Mike Lanzing, General Manager of UniBank.
"Operating ethically is in our culture and our business practises; the World’s Most Ethical ranking delivers the credentials to back this up. To be named as a world ethical leader for the third year running shows that we punch above our weight on ethics."
The Ethisphere Institute is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practice. The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient (EQ) framework and honours superior achievements in transparency, integrity, ethics and compliance.
Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).
The 2018 award is for UniBank and Teachers Mutual Bank Ltd, as UniBank is a division of Teachers Mutual Bank Ltd, a 2018 World’s Most Ethical Company. The Bank has been named a World’s Most Ethical Company for three years: 2018, 2017 and 2016.
Teachers Mutual Bank Ltd has been named a World’s Most Ethical Company for five years in a row since 2014. Prior to 2016, UniBank was not part of TMBL so was not listed.
